About The Area

Whernside is just five miles outside the traditional Cumbrian market town of Sedbergh and ten minutes drive from the magnificant Kingsdale Valley with its caves. The Yorkshire village of Ingleton is just thirty minutes drive away and the Lake District, with some of the best walking in the country, is just forty five minutes away.

Dent is a step back in time to quaint cobbled streets, whitewashed houses and a very warm and welcoming rural community. Dent has three pubs, The Sportsman at the top of the dale serves good food and ale in a homely bar. The George and The Sun are in the village and are supplied by Dentdales own brewery.

The Cobbled Streets of Dent
Eddie and Rita run the local shop where you can but most things, listen to local gossip and have a 'bacon buttie' all at the same time.

St Andrews church is over thousand years old and well worth a visit, the alter steps are made of Dent Marble.
